Caher Conor Situated on the southern slopes of Mount Eagle overlooking Dingle Bay the townlands of Glanfahan and Fahan contain many stone forts and clochauns. Caher Caher is a fine example of one of these forts containing at least 3 clochauns. The top picture on the left was taken from the top of the southern wall looking in a Northerly direction, you can see a rectangular enclosure on the left containing a clochaun with another clochaun built on to the Northern end of the enclosure. |

The image shown right was taken looking West from the Eastern wall clearly showing the two clochauns, these Clochauns are also known as Beehive huts. Probably the best example of a beehive hut at this fort is the one that lies in the North Eastern area of the fort. This Structure is pictured bottom left and is a pointed oval in plan it measures roughly 4 1/2 x 2 1/2 metres internally. Click on the picture for a larger image. | |
